1. What is Mid‑Life Wargaming?
Mid‑Life Wargaming Ltd is an events management company that runs tabletop wargaming events in the UK, specialising in friendly, well‑organised tournaments for players of all experience levels.
2. How do I buy a ticket?
Tickets can be purchased directly through our website.
All payments are processed securely by Squarespace Payments.
We never see or store your card details.
3. Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?
Yes — depending on how close it is to the event.
More than 7 days before the event:
You can request a refund or a roll‑over to a future event.Within 7 days of the event:
We offer roll‑over only, as venue costs are paid per attendee and are non‑recoverable.No‑shows:
No refund or roll‑over is available.

4. What is a ticket roll‑over?
A roll‑over means your ticket is transferred to a future event of your choice (subject to availability).
It’s our preferred option because it helps keep events running smoothly and avoids wasted venue costs.
5. Do I need to create an account to buy a ticket?
No — you can check out as a guest if you prefer.
Creating an account is optional, but it can make things easier because it allows you to:
View and manage your bookings
Access event information more easily
Retrieve past orders
Guest checkout is always available for quick, hassle‑free purchases.
6. How will I receive my ticket?
Your ticket confirmation is sent to the email address used at checkout.
If you created an account, you can also view your bookings by logging in.
All of our events use Best Coast Pairings (BCP) for:
Matchmaking
List submissions
Event rankings
Player pairings on the day
Once you purchase a ticket, you will also be registered for the event on BCP, and it will appear automatically in your BCP account.
7. What happens if Mid‑Life Wargaming cancels an event?
If we cancel or significantly change an event, you will be offered:
A full refund, or
A roll‑over to a future event
We are not responsible for travel or accommodation costs.
8. What do I need to bring to an event?
Typically:
Your army
Dice, tape measure, and gaming accessories
Printed or digital army list
Any required rules or supplements
Event‑specific requirements will be listed on the event page.
9. Are your events beginner‑friendly?
Absolutely.
Our events are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and enjoyable for players of all experience levels.
10. Do you allow proxies or conversions?
This varies by event.
Each event page will list the modelling and proxy rules.
If in doubt, email us a photo and we’ll confirm.
11. Are there age restrictions?
All Mid‑Life Wargaming events are open to secondary‑school‑age players and above.
Under‑18s are welcome, but please note:
Mid‑Life Wargaming Ltd and Hobby House Models Ltd cannot take responsibility for any under‑18s during the event
Parents/guardians are encouraged to remain at the venue or stay close by
Parents/guardians may leave emergency contact details with the Tournament Organisers
This ensures younger players can enjoy the event safely while allowing us to run the day smoothly for everyone.
12. Can spectators attend?
Yes — spectators are very welcome at both Hobby House and MLW events.
There is seating available in the coffee shop and plenty to enjoy in the hobby store.
To avoid disrupting games, we kindly ask that interactions with players during rounds are kept brief, as round times are tight and many games go right to the wire.
13. Do you use AI‑generated images on the website?
Yes — some artwork is AI‑generated, alongside stock images and third‑party logos used with permission.
All content is used legally and responsibly.

Best Coast Pairings (BCP) – FAQs
15. How do I find the event on BCP?
Once you purchase a ticket, you are automatically registered for the event on Best Coast Pairings (BCP).
The event will appear in your BCP account under “My Events”.
If it doesn’t appear:
Check you’re logged into the same email used at checkout
Refresh the app or website
If it still doesn’t show, contact us and we’ll check your registration.
16. Do I need a BCP account to play in the event?
Yes — all MLW events use BCP for:
List submissions
Pairings
Scoring
Rankings
Table assignments
A free BCP account is all you need.
17. How do I submit my army list?
Lists are submitted directly through the BCP app or website.
Once the event appears in your account:
Open the event
Select Submit List
Upload or paste your list
If the event has a list deadline, it will be shown on the event page.
18. Do I need a paid BCP subscription?
No — a free BCP account is enough for everything required to participate.
A paid subscription only adds optional features like advanced stats and event history.
19. How do pairings work on the day?
Pairings are generated through BCP and will appear in the app as soon as each round begins.
You’ll see:
Your opponent
Your table number
Round timer
Your current ranking
We also announce pairings verbally.
20. How do I enter my score?
After your game:
Open the event in BCP
Select the round
Enter your score
Your opponent confirms it
If there’s a scoring issue, call a TO — we can correct it instantly.
21. What if I don’t have a smartphone?
No problem — just let us know on the day.
We can:
Submit your list
Show you your pairings
Enter your scores
You won’t be disadvantaged.
22. What if I’ve never used BCP before?
BCP is very beginner‑friendly, and we’re always happy to help.
If you’re unsure:
Arrive a little early
Ask a TO for help
We’ll walk you through it in under a minute
You’ll pick it up quickly.
